THE AETIOLOGICAL FACTORS IN CLASS III MALOCCLUSION

Class III malocclusion is a complex orthodontic condition characterized by the anterior positioning of the mandible relative to the maxilla. This condition affects facial aesthetics, masticatory function, speech, and overall oral health. Its development is influenced by genetic, skeletal, dental, and environmental factors. Early identification and understanding of these aetiological factors are crucial for effective treatment planning, preventive strategies, and achieving long-term stability. In children, growth modification therapies can guide proper jaw development and reduce the need for surgical intervention. In adults, combined orthodontic and surgical approaches can correct skeletal discrepancies and improve functional and esthetic outcomes. Comprehensive knowledge of the causative factors enhances treatment success, patient satisfaction, and quality of life.
