HYPERURICEMIA IN THE PROGRESSION OF CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE

Hyperuricemia is increasingly recognized as a significant factor in the progression of chronic kidney disease. Elevated uric acid levels contribute to renal injury through mechanisms such as inflammation, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and activation of harmful hormonal pathways. Clinical studies indicate that persistent hyperuricemia accelerates the decline in kidney function and increases the risk of end-stage renal disease. Early identification and management of hyperuricemia, including lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy, can slow disease progression and improve patient outcomes. Understanding the role of uric acid in kidney disease is essential for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies.
