Abstract

Phonostylistics is a branch of linguistics that investigates the functional and stylistic variation of phonetic means in speech depending on communicative intention, social context, and situational factors. The present article aims to analyze the main objectives and tasks of phonostylistics, with particular attention paid to its relevance in modern linguistic research. The study examines how prosodic features such as intonation, stress, rhythm, and tempo contribute to meaning construction and stylistic differentiation in spoken discourse. Special emphasis is placed on the role of phonostylistics in oral communication, discourse analysis, and applied fields such as language teaching and media linguistics. The article also discusses current challenges in phonostylistic research, including issues of classification, methodological approaches, and the integration of phonostylistic analysis with pragmatic and sociolinguistic frameworks. The findings highlight the growing importance of phonostylistics in understanding speech variability and communicative effectiveness in contemporary language use.
